What HaruMeet is

A person seen from behind at a small dining table in a high-rise flat in the evening, using a laptop with a mug beside it, with lit residential towers at dusk through the window.

HaruMeet (Haru) is an online marketplace for live one-to-one video lessons with Korean tutors, run by a company registered in Korea. You compare tutor profiles, pick one, pay per lesson and meet on Zoom. There is no classroom to travel to and no fixed term.

HaruMeet has no physical school in Singapore and is not a SkillsFuture-registered training provider, so you can't use SkillsFuture Credit for lessons on HaruMeet. If you want to spend your credit, choose a course listed on the MySkillsFuture portal. The comparison below covers those options.

Tutors can only open lessons after their profile has been reviewed and approved. Each profile shows the price, the languages the tutor speaks, student reviews and a weekly schedule. All 19 tutors currently teaching Korean list English among their languages.

Book your first lesson in 3 steps

  1. Browse the Korean tutors and open a profile. Compare price, reviews and the languages they explain in, and check the weekly schedule, which is shown in your own time zone.
  2. Choose 25 or 50 minutes and select "Trial lesson (50% off)". Sign up with email or Google, then pay by international card or PayPal. You are charged in US dollars.
  3. The booking calendar opens right after payment. Pick your time, then join on Zoom from 10 minutes before the start.

Times less than 12 hours away go to the tutor as a request and are confirmed once they approve. You can cancel free while it's pending.

What it costs in Singapore dollars

Tutors set their own prices, and lessons are charged in US dollars. The price shown already includes the 10% student fee, so nothing is added at checkout, and there is no subscription or sign-up fee. The SGD figures below are approximate, at US$1 = S$1.28 (ECB reference rate, 20 October 2026).

Lowest$7.70S$10S$24
Median$11.00S$14S$34
Highest$20.90S$27S$64

11 of the 19 tutors charge US$11 (about S$14) or less for 25 minutes. Tutors price 50-minute lessons separately; the median is US$22 (about S$28). If you plan to stay with one tutor, a pack lowers the price: 10 lessons are currently 5% off and 20 lessons 10% off, while a 5-lesson pack has no discount. Because you pay in USD, your card issuer or PayPal may add a currency-conversion fee.

Singapore time vs Seoul time

Singapore Standard Time (SGT) is UTC+8 and Korea Standard Time (KST) is UTC+9, and neither country uses daylight saving. Seoul is exactly one hour ahead all year. HaruMeet detects your time zone when you sign up and shows every lesson time in Singapore time, but the table helps when you message a tutor.

As of October 2026, Korean tutors had 2,564 open 25-minute slots over the next two weeks. 34% of them fell between 6 pm and midnight Seoul time, which is 5 to 11 pm in Singapore, offered by 14 of the 15 tutors with open schedules. Another 29% fell between 11 am and 5 pm Singapore time and 30% between 5 and 11 am; 7% fell between 11 pm and 5 am.

Group class, SkillsFuture course, private tutor or online 1:1 compared

The table compares five common ways to learn Korean in Singapore, using the prices each provider publishes. Per-hour figures are our arithmetic: the published price divided by teaching hours.

Prices as published on each provider's own page, checked 21 October 2026. SkillsFuture Credit eligibility is as the provider states it; confirm on the course page before you enrol.

On cost per hour, a subsidised group class is cheapest, but your speaking time in that hour is shared with the whole class. Comparing 1:1 with 1:1, HaruMeet's median (≈ S$34/h) is below the private-lesson prices the schools above publish (S$60–98/h). You don't follow a school's fixed course, though. You decide what to learn, and in what order, with your tutor.

Who online 1:1 suits, and who should choose a group class

Online 1:1 tends to suit you if:

  • Your hours change week to week and a fixed weekly class keeps clashing with work.
  • You want to spend most of the lesson speaking. In 1:1, all 25 minutes are your turn.
  • You have a specific goal, such as TOPIK writing, conversation before a trip, or Korean for work.
  • You've learned the basics from an app but stalled at speaking.

A group class is the better choice if:

  • You want to use SkillsFuture Credit or a subsidy, which can't be used on HaruMeet.
  • You need classmates and a set curriculum to keep going.
  • You'd rather learn in a physical classroom than on a screen.
  • A subsidised group hour fits your budget better.

Plenty of learners combine the two: a group class for the syllabus, plus 25-minute 1:1 lessons for speaking practice and writing correction.

TOPIK in Singapore

TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) is run by Korea's National Institute for International Education. In Singapore the paper-based test is hosted by the Singapore Korean International School (SKIS) at 71 Bukit Tinggi Road. Singapore had two sittings in 2026: the 105th TOPIK on Sunday 12 April and the 108th on Sunday 18 October. Registration for the 108th ran from 13 to 24 July 2026 through SKIS. Candidates outside Korea register with their local host, not on topik.go.kr, and SKIS states that fees are not refunded once paid.

The official schedule lists the 110th TOPIK on Sunday 10 January 2027 for Korea and Asia, but as of 21 October 2026 it hadn't been announced whether Singapore will host it. The fee and registration window appear in each SKIS notice, so check there. Results are released on topik.go.kr and are valid for two years from the announcement.

TOPIK I (levels 1–2) tests listening and reading; TOPIK II (levels 3–6) tests listening, writing and reading. Writing is the hardest part to improve alone, so 1:1 lessons work well for essay correction and mock-test review. As of October 2026, 5 of the 19 Korean tutors on HaruMeet mention TOPIK on their profiles.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use SkillsFuture Credit on HaruMeet?

No. HaruMeet is not a SkillsFuture-registered provider, and SkillsFuture Credit can only be used on courses listed on the MySkillsFuture portal. Some learners use their credit for a group course and add HaruMeet lessons for speaking practice.

How much is a lesson in Singapore dollars?

As of October 2026, a 25-minute lesson costs US$7.70–20.90, about S$10–27, with a median of US$11 (about S$14). Your first lesson with each tutor is half price. You're charged in USD, so your card or PayPal may add a conversion fee.

Which time zone are lessons shown in?

Your own. HaruMeet detects your time zone at sign-up, and you can change it in your account settings. Singapore is one hour behind Seoul all year round.

I'm a complete beginner. Is that OK?

Yes. 10 of the 19 Korean tutors list beginner lessons on their profiles, and all 19 list English among their languages. You can start before you can read Hangul; tell your tutor your level and goal in the first lesson and they'll set the order.

Can I try before committing?

Yes. Your first single lesson with each tutor is 50% off, so you can try two or three tutors before choosing. There's no subscription; after that you pay only for the lessons you book. The trial discount can't be combined with packs or coupons.

What if I need to cancel?

You can cancel free up to 12 hours before the start. The lesson returns to your balance, and you can rebook it or convert it to Haru Credit. Cancelling within 12 hours, or not showing up, uses the lesson with no refund. Refunds are paid as Haru Credit, not cash.

Can I pay with a Singapore card or PayPal?

Yes. At checkout choose "International credit / debit card" or PayPal. Both are processed by PayPal in US dollars. The Korean payment options, such as KakaoPay and Naver Pay, only accept Korea-issued cards.

Is my tutor a real person, not an AI?

Yes. Every lesson is a live video call on Zoom with a human tutor. Tutors can only open lessons after a profile review and approval, and each profile shows reviews from other students.
